Merner Mystery

This week we finished creating our film for the fascination project. My group wanted to make this film as close to a real representation of a movie. Therefore, the preview screen was added to our project.

I believe incorporation of this screen created a feeling within the audience that prepared them to watch a movie. In a way I believe this mentally prepared everyone to sit down and watch. Following this screen, we included all the information relating to the creating of the film: directors, writers, and cast. In order to set the mood we recorded over portraits found in the conference room in Merner Field house. We believed they were creepy especially when presented in black and white.

The first characters we introduce in our short film are two athletes Grace and Anna. They are walking to the vending machine to get a drink. We then introduce the audience to the third character coach Ola. The three characters are walking up the stairs and Grace hands Ola the drink she had just bought in the vending machine. We then better introduce the setting of the film to the audience. The setting of the short movie was the athletic building with the administrative offices. The next scene we show is the two athletes discovering their coach dead at the bottom of the stairs.

The last character we introduce is Investigator Brooke. She helps solve the crime that had occurred in the building. She questions the two athletes, and figures out what happened. She concluded that Grace had poisoned the Fanta that she gave to Coach Ola, which caused her to lose her consciousness and pass out on the stairs and die.

We tried to do different things with the camera to add on to the movie. We would scan the camera horizontally and vertically. We would zoom in and out with the camera. Most of our scenes were also recorded from the back as a way to make it feel more suspenseful.
