Get Out of my blog...Just kidding

I am a big fan of horror movies. My roommate and I spend most of our nights searching to find a horror movie that we have not seen yet... it is a challenge. I was excited to see Get Out directed by Jordan Peele. The director's style is very unique. Peele's films carry so much more than a scare. His films carry strong messages that relate to problems in the real world. Get Out shows the issue of racism that continues to persist in current times. The first scene being black male being taken in a random neighborhood in the dark. Then Chris being asked for his driver's license by the cop when he wasn't driving. The "polite" conversations that occurred between Rose's family and Chris still were racist.

The suspenseful music, the movements and actions of the actors, the build-up in tension all contribute the the mise en scene which is unique to each director. The creepy smiles of Georgina, Walter, and Andrew create the uneasy feeling from the beginning of the movie. The Armitage family appears to be a nice family that tries to understand what a black individual has to endure on a daily basis. Rose continues to apologize for her family, and acts as if she was embarrassed. The choices by Peele are extraordinary.

The same characteristics such as the facial expressions of the actors are seen in other Peele movies like Us. Us sends a message of how we are our own worst enemy. The movie sends this message in a very eerie form. I personally believe Peele accomplished creating a true scary movie with his release of Us.
Jordan Peele is very talented! His movies are always successful and receive great reviews.

  3. I also enjoy Peele's approach of teaching a lesson throughout his movie! However, it's a life lesson one would not expect to learn in a thriller. This makes me interested to continue to watch his movies.
