Fascinating Short Films in Class
This week we had the opportunity to see the many different short films in class. It was truly amazing to see the different creative ideas my peers had and how they managed to bring those ideas to life. I do not remember the titles of any of the films, not because they weren't good but because I was so intrigued in the actual plot and design of the film I forgot what they were called.
My favorite was probably the one which held place in the business center. I believe it was called " Behind the Glass" something close to that title. I really loved how all the action took place in front of the cast behind the window; yet no one had a clue. The action, thriller, had a comedic spin on it which made it really fun to watch. I loved how the antagonist in this film randomly popped up behind the post, or from under the window, it made the film very enjoyable. I also thought it was smart for the characters who weren't seen as important to be killed off first. It is often what happens in all films of this nature, but this short film made it obvious.
Another short film I liked was "Paralysis" although the film was more like a trailer it was done very well. I thought the running scenes were exceptional. It was a professional take of someone running away. This scene specifically could have been done in a lazy way, yet it wasn't, this scene created the thrilling effect. The scene with the train was also done well. It was unexpected to see someone standing behind the train as it passed and it created an extra layer of thrill.
The group with the tic tac toe coach created a film that I was not expecting. To this day I am still shocked when there is swearing or inappropriate comments in class. It makes sense in a film class, as movies do that exact thing. I believe the writing for the film was done exceptionally, certain parts of the dialogue are the reason the film was funny.
Overall, I believe the fascination project was a great addition to this course. It was great to see what a room full of creative individuals could create. I wouldn't mind if the whole class revolved around making different genres of short films.
Your film set the tone! Great work. I am glad you found things to appreciate in the other films.
